The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award is the highest honour in the field of sports in India and is awarded to those who make the country proud on the international platform. In 2018, Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and Virat Kohli were awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award by the Government of India. Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, a weightlifter, has won the World Championships and multiple medals at the Commonwealth Games. Virat Kohli became the third cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni to receive this award.
