(a) According to Article 243 (Z J) of the Indian Constitution the maximum number of directors of a cooperative society may be 21. It is incorporated in the part IXB of the Constitution. It is related to ‘the number and term of members in the board and its office bearers’. It is provided that the maximum number of directors of a co-operative society shall not exceed 21.
