In a rectangular park of dimension 160 m × 135 m two cross paths each 5 m wide has to be constructed parallel to each side. If this path passes through the centre of the park, find out the cost of construction at ` 18 per m2.

Solution:

Required area = Area of shadedregion =
(5×160 + 5×135)- (5 ×5)
{Hint : (Area of horizontal path +area of vertical path) – overlappedarea}

= (800 + 675)- 25 = 1450 m^2

∴ Cost of construction at ₹ 18 perm2 = 1450×18 =₹ 26100
