The ratio of two numbers is 6 : 11 and their difference is 65. What will be the smaller number among both the numbers?

Solution:

Let the numbers be 6x and 11x
Difference =

11x − 6x = 65

⇒

x = 65 /5 = 13

∴ Smaller number =

6×13=78
