Expression : 35% of (x + y) = 40% of (x - y)
⇒

35/100 × (x + y) =40/ 100 × (x − y)

⇒

35x + 35y = 40x − 40y

⇒

40x − 35x = 35y + 40y

⇒

5x = 75y

⇒

x /y = 75/5 = 15

∴ Required % =

15 × 100 = 1500%
