What is the equation of the line perpendicular to the line 5x + 3y = 6 and having Y-intercept -3?

3x - 5y = 15
3x + 5y = 15
3x - 5y = -15
3x + 5y = -15

Solution:

5x + 3y = 6

⇒

3 y = - 5x + 6

⇒

y=-5/3x+6

On comparing

y =m x + c,

m_1=-5/3

∴

m_2=3/5 \;\;(∵m_1m_2=1)

By equation

y =m x + c,

⇒

y=3/5x-3

⇒

5 y = 3x-1 5

( ∵ y intercept = -3 )
⇒

3 x -5 y = 1 5
