Solution:

Distance between two points

=√{x_ 2 - x _1)^2 + ( y _2 - y_ 1)^2}

According to the question,
⇒

13=√{( k - 2 )^ 2 + (-5 - 7 )^ 2}

⇒

13^2 = (k - 2 )^ 2 + (-1 2 )^2

⇒

6 9 -1 4 4 = (k -2 )^2

⇒

25 = (k - 2 )^ 2

⇒

k -2 = 5 ∴ k = 5 + 2 = 7
