A solid cylinder of a revolver can load six bullets at a time. The cylinder consists of six congruent circles which internally touches a bigger circle. Each smaller circle, in which bullets are loaded, also touches its adjacent circles externally. If the length of bullets and cylinder is same and is equal to diameter of the bullet.
Find the radius of the bullet, if the volume of unloaded cylinder is 384π cm

Validate

Solution:

Let radius of bullet be 'r'
So, the radius of cylinder = 3r.
Volume of unloaded cylinder = Volume of full cylinder - Vol. of Six bullets.

π ×(3 r)^2 × 2r -6 ×πr^2 × 2r

⇒

6πr^3 = 384π

(given)
⇒

r ^3 = 64

⇒

r = 4 cm
