The length of a ladder is exactly equal to the height of the wall it is leaning against. If lower end of the ladder is kept on a platform of height 2 meters and the platform is kept 10 meters away from the wall, the upper end of the ladder coincides with the top of the wall. Then, the height of the wall is:

Solution:

AB is the ladder
And AC is the wall.
BD = 2m, CD = 10m, AB = AC = x
In Δ AOB

AO^2+OB^2=AB^2

(x -2)^2 + (10)^2 = x^2

x = 26

Height of wall = 26m.
