Three numbers are in the ratio of 3 : 4 : 5 and their LCM is 2400. Find their HCF.

Solution:

Let the numbers be 3x, 4x and 5x.
Then, L.C.M. = 60x
Now, 60x = 2400
∴

x = 2400/60 = 40

Since, the numbers are 3 × 40, 4 × 40, 5 × 40.
Hence, their HCF = 40.
