Find the HCF of two numbers in the ratio 7 : 6 and their product being 3,402.

Solution:

Let the two numbers be 7x and 6x.
The product of two numbers

= 7x × 6x

7x × 6x = 3,402

42x^2 = 3,402

x^2 = 81

x = 9

x is the greatest common factor of both the numbers, i.e., HCF.
Hence, HCF = 9
