The prices of a scooter and a moped are in the ratio of 9 : 5. If a scooter costs ₹4,200 more than a moped, find the price of the moped.

Solution:

Let, price of scooter = ₹ 9x
and price of moped = ₹ 5x

9x–5x=4200

⇒4x=4200

⇒x=4200/4=₹1050

∵ Cost of a scooter

=1050×9=₹9450

Cost of a moped

=1050×5=₹5250.
