In this type of question, since distance travelled by both is same, then average speed can be calculated with the help of below formula.
Formula Used:
Average speed = total distance/total time
Calculation:
Using the above formulae, where total distance $=\left(22+22\right)\mathit{m}=44\mathit{m}$ , and total time = $\left(8+6\right)\mathit{s}=14\mathit{s},$ we get
⇒ average speed $=44/14\mathit{m}{\mathit{s}}^{-1}$
$\Rightarrow 3.14\mathit{m}{\mathit{s}}^{-1}$
∴ average speed $=3.14\mathit{m}{\mathit{s}}^{-1}$
