In a construction company the probability that the workers go on strike is 0.65 and the probability that a construction job will be completed on time if there is no strike is 0.80. If the probability that the construction job is completed on time even if there is strike is 0.32. then the probability that the construction job is completed on time is

Solution:

Probability that workers on strike
= P (S) = 0.65
Probability that job was completed on time

= P (W) = 0.8

Probability that the job was completed when the workers were on strike

P (W_s) = 0.32

∴ Required probability

=P(W)P(S)+ P(S)P (W_{s})

=0.8 × 0.35+0.65 × 0.32

=0.488
