If the circumference of a circle is increased by 50% then the percentage increase in its area is

Solution:

% increase in radius = % increase in circumference = 50%
∴ % increase in area

={π(1.5r)^2-πr^2}/{πr^2}×100%

= 1.25 × 100% = 125%
Aliter :% increase in area

=(2x+x^2/100)%

=(2×50+{50×50}/{100})\%=125\%
