The South China Sea Dispute involves several sovereign countries around the region, namely Taiwan, Brunei, China, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines. All these nations laid claim and occupied part of the islands in the South China Sea. China’s 80 percent of energy imports and 39.5 percent of total trade pass through this region.
