The Narmada River flows in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat. It is also known as ‘the lifeline of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh’ for its huge contribution to the states in many ways. It is a west–flowing river rising from Amarkantak Plateau near Anuppur district and flows over a length of 1,312 km before draining through the Gulf of Khambhat into the Arabian Sea.
