(a) In pulses, nitrogen-fixing rhizobia bacteria make the combination with cells of the roots called nodules. Within these nodules, ammonia (NH3) produced by these bacteria is absorbed by the plant. According to research, nitrogen fixation by pulses remain in the range of 25– 75 lb of nitrogen per acre per year.
