(a) Kulottunga I was the Chola Monarch who gave complete freedom to Sri Lanka and got his daughter married to the Simhala prince. Kulottunga Chola was an${11}^{\mathit{t}\mathit{h}}$ century monarch of the Chola Empire. The literally meaning of Kulottunga is ‘the exalter of his race’. He did not belong to the mainline of Chola, but was rather a prince of the Chalukya dynasty.
