A line l which makes equal intercepts with the coordinate axes, passes through the point (3, - 4). Then it also passes through the point:

Solution:

The equation of line

ℓ = x + y = a

It is passing through (3, –4)

∴ 3 – 4 = a⇒ a = –1

∴ The required line

ℓ = x + y + 1 = 0

Clearly (5, –6) lies on the above line.
