Solution:

Let x, y, z represent 1 day’s work of A, B and C respectively.
We can write

z=\;\;{1}/{2}[(y+z)+(z+x)-(x+y)]

⇒z=\;\;{1}/{2}(\;\;{1}/{6}+\;\;{1}/{12}-\;\;{1}/{8})=\;\;{1}/{16}

∴ C alone can do the work in 16 days.
