All the companies shortlisted 8 students from the class. Then what is the ratio of number of students who got shortlisted for only B and number of students who got shortlisted for only C?

Solution:

Number of students shortlisted by only B
= n(B) - n(A ∩ B) - n(B ∩ C) + n(A ∩ B ∩ C)
= 26 - 14 - 15 + 8 = 5
Number of students shortlisted by only C
= n(C) - n(A ∩ C) - n(B ∩ C) + n(A ∩ B ∩ C)
= 29 - 12 - 15 + 8 = 10
