Solution:

Cost price of 1 apple =

{240}/{80}

= ₹ 3
No. of apples given to his friend =

1/4×80

= 20
Remaining apples = 80 – 20 = 60
Cost of apples to his friend = 20 × 3 = ₹ 60
Total SP at a profit of 20% = 240 ×

{120}/{100}

= ₹ 288
SP of remaining 60 apples = ₹ (288 – 60) = ₹ 228
SP of 1 apple =

{228}/{60}

= ₹ 3.80
