QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE

The length, breadth and height of a room are 16 m, 11 m and 5 m respectively, including a door measures 2 m × 1 m and four windows measures 1 m × 0.75 m. What is the total cost of painting at the rate of ₹ 2.50/m2 excluding door and windows?

Validate

Solution:

Area of four wall = 2 × h(l + b)
= 2 × 5 (16 + 11) = 270 m

Total area of gate and windows = 2 × 1 + 1 × 0.75 × 4 = 2 + 3 = 5 m

^{2}

Area to be painted = 270 − 5 = 265 m

^{2}

∴ Required cost = 265 × 2.50 = Rs.662.5
