The dimensions of a cuboidal metal strip are a = 5 cm, b = 15 cm and c = 10 cm. What is the ratio of resistances

R_a : R_b : R_c

between the respective pairs of opposite faces ?

Solution:

Given dimension
a = 5 cm, b = 15 cm, c = 10 cm

R_b= \ρ15/{10×5}=\ρ3/10

and

R_c=\ρ5/{10×15}=\ρ1/30

Sililarly

R_a=\ρ10/{15×5}=\ρ2/15

R_a : R_b : R_c=2/15:3/10:1/30

=4 : 9 : 1
