What will be the capacitance (in mF) of a circuit when the circuit is supplied with a 50 Hz frequency and the capacitive reactance of the circuit is 40 ohms ?

Solution:

Given data

X_C = 40 Ω

and f = 50 Hz
Now,

X_C=1/{ωC}

∴40=1/{2πF_C}

(∵ω=2πf)

∴C=1/{40×2πf}

=1/{40×2×3.14×50}

∴C=0.08mF
