Find the common point of the lines x + 7y = 9 and 4x – 5y = 13.

Solution:

(1) Common point of lines x + 7y= 9 and 4x – 5y = 13 is theintersecting point.
Using substitution, we get.
X = 9 – 7y
4(9 – 7y) – 5y = 13
36 – 28y – 5y = 13
Y = 23/33
X = 136/33
Intersecting point of the lines is

136/33and y = 23/33
