A circular road runs around a circular garden. If the difference between the circumference of the outer and the inner circle is 72 m, find the width of the road.

Solution:

(2) Let R and r be the radii of outerand inner circles, respectively.
Given,

&2πR- 2πr = 72 m

2π (R - r )= 72

⇒

(R-r)={72× 7 }/{2 ×22}=11.45

Therefore, width of the road =11.45 m
