The average of 5 numbers is 51. The average of the first two numbers is 38 and the average of the last two numbers is 25. Find out the middle number.

Validate

Solution:

(4) Sum of the five numbers= 5× 51 = 255
Sum of the first two numbers= 2 ×38 = 76
Sum of the last two numbers= 2 × 25 = 50
Sum of the five numbers = Sum ofthe first two numbers + Middlenumber + Sum of the first twonumbers
⇒ Middle number

= 255 – 76– 50 = 129
