‘n’ is a whole number which, when divided by 6, gives 5 as remainder. What will be the remainder when ‘2n’ is divided by 6?

Solution:

(2) Let 'a' be the quotient.
According to the question,
n = 6a + 5, therefore,

2n = 12a+ 10 = 6(2a + 1) + 4

So, the remainder on dividing 2n by6 = 4
