The length of the diagonals of a rhombus are in the ratio 2: 3. If the area of the rhombus is

108 cm^2,

then what is the length of the shorter diagonal?

Solution:

(2) Length of diagonals are d1 = 2xand d2 = 3x. Area of rhombus is,

A =1/2× d_1× d_2= 3x^2

Therefore,

3x^2 = 108 and hence,x = 6.

So, the shorter diagonal is 2 × 6= 12 cm.
