The circumference of a circle is twice the perimeter of a rectangle. The area of the circle is 5544cm2. What is the area of the rectangle if the length of the rectangle is 40cm?

Validate

Solution:

22/7× r^2 = 5544 r = 42

cm
Circumference of circle

= 2 × 22/7× 42 = 264

cm
Since the circumference of a circleis twice the perimeter of arectangle,
∴ Perimeter of rectangle

= 264/2= 132cm

Let L and B be the length andbreadth of rectangle
∴ 2(40 + B) = 132
⇒ B = 66 – 40 = 26 cm
Area of rectangle

= 40 × 26= 1040 cm^2
