(4) Let the monthly income of thehusband be ₹ 5x and that of hiswife₹6x.
Expenditure of husband= 5x – 1800
Expenditure of wife = 6x –1600
Thus,
$\frac{5\mathit{X}-1800}{6\mathit{X}-1600}=\frac{3}{4}$
$4\left(5\mathit{x}+1800\right)=3\left(6\mathit{x}-1600\right)$
$20\mathit{x}-7200=18\mathit{x}-4800$
x = 1200
Therefore, the income of the wife
= 6 × 1200 = ₹ 7,200
