The two adjacent sides of a parallelogram are 45 m and 35 m, respectively and one of the diagonal is 72 m. The area of the parallelogram is

Solution:

Area of parallelogram =2 × area of triangle
Semi perimeter (S) =

{45+ 35 +72} /2 76m

Area of triangle =

√{s(s - a)(s -b) (s- c)}

(By Heron’s formula)

= √76(76 -72)(76 -45)(76 - 35)

= √{2 × 2 ×19× 2 × 2 × 31 ×1 × 41 ×1}

= 2×2× √{19×31×41}

= 4 ×155.39 = 621.56 m^2

Therefore area of parallelogram

= 2 × 621.56 = 1243.12 m^2
