Divide ₹ 8000 into two parts so that simple interest on the $1^s^t$ part for 3 yrs at 4% p.a. may be equal to the simple interest on the $2^n^d$ part for 4 yrs at 5% p.a.?

Validate

Solution:

(4) Let the 1st part be ₹ x and 2ndpart be ₹ (8000 – x).

∴{x× 4× 3}/100 ={(8000-x ) ×5 ×4}/100

⇒ 12x = 160000 – 20x
⇒12x + 20x = 160000
⇒ 32x = 160000⇒ x = ₹ 5000 = 1st part
∴ 2nd part = (8000 – 5000) = ₹3000
