Neha scored 1.2 times the marks of Sanskrit in Science. In Social Science, she scored 20 marks more than Science. If she secured 85.5% marks in these three subjects out of a total 600 marks, how much did she score in Social Science?

Solution:

(1) Let marks scored by Neha inSanskrit = x
Marks scored in Science = 1.2x
Marks scored in Social Science =1.2x + 20
Total marks scored by Neha inthree subjects = 85.5% of 600 =513
∴ x + 1.2x + 1.2x + 20 = 513
⇒ 3.4x = 493
⇒ x = 145
Marks scored in Social Science

= 1.2 × 145 + 20 = 194
