According to question, each side ishalved.
Therefore, area of the new triangle$=\frac{\sqrt{3}}{4}{\left(\frac{1}{2}\mathit{x}2\right)}^2$
Required ratio = Area of old triangle:
Area of new triangle =$\frac{\sqrt{3}}{4}{\mathit{x}}^2:\frac{\sqrt{3}}{16}{\mathit{x}}^2=4:1$
