If tan θ + sec θ = 2, then the value of tan θ is

Solution:

(3)tan θ + sec θ = 2............(i)
since,

\sec ^{2} \θ-\tan ^{2} \θ=1

(\sec \θ-\tan \θ)

= {1}/{(\sec \θ+\tan \θ)}= {1}/{2}

.......(ii)
Subtracting equation (ii) from equation (i), we get,

2 \tan \θ=2- {1}/{2}⇒ \tan \θ= {3}/{4}
