(4) The decrease or increase in the area can be found by successive percentage rule, i.e.

a+b+ {a b}/{100}

Increase or decrease in area of thenew rectangle

=10-10+ {-10 × 10}/{100}=-1 \%

Thus, the area will decrease by 1%.
