If the square of the sum of two numbers is equal to 4 times of their product, then the ratio of these numbers is

Solution:

(3) Let the numbers be x and y. So,

(x+y)^{2}=4 x y

⇒ x^{2}+y^{2}+2 x y-4 x y=0

(x-y)^{2}=0

⇒ x-y=0

⇒ x=y

Hence the ratio is

{x}/{y}= {y}/{y}=1 : 1
