If 10% of the girls from college A are transferred to college E, then what is the increase in the percentage of girls in college E?

Solution:

Number of girls in college A = 20% of 1800

× 5/9

=20/100×1800×5/9=200

Number of girls in college E = 10% of 1800

×3/5

=10/100×1800×3/5=108

Increase in number of girls in college E = 10% of 200

=10/100×200=20

Required percent

=20/108×100=18.5%
