Two vessels of equal capacity contains juice and water in the ratio of 5 : 1 and 5 : 7 respectively. The mixture of both the vessels are mixed and transferred into a bigger vessel. What is the ratio of juice and water in the new mixture?

Validate

Solution:

Let capacity of each vessel = L.C.M. (6,12) = 12 units
Quantity of juice in first vessel =

5/(5+1)×12=10

units
⇒ Quantity of water in first vessel =

12-10=2

units
Similarly, juice in second vessel = 5 units and water = 7 units
Now, ratio of juice and water in the new mixture =

(10+5)/(2+7)

15/9=5/3
