How many men will be required to plough 50 acres of land in 10 days, if 15 men required 6 days to plough 10 acres of land?

Solution:

Given,

\M_{1}=15, \D_{1}=6, \W_{1}=10

\D_{2}=10, \W_{2}=50

Let the number of men required to plough 50 acres of land in 10 days be

\M_{2}

According to the formula,

{\M_{1} \D_{1}}/{\W_{1}}={\M_{2} \D_{2}}/{\W_{2}}

⇒

\M_{2}={\M_{1} \D_{1} ×\W_{2}}/{\D_{2} ×\W_{1}}

⇒

\M_{2}={15 ×6 ×50}/{10 ×10}=45

∴ The number of men required

=45
