The length of the two sides forming the right angle of a right-angled triangle are

20 {\cm}

. What is the radius of the circle circumscribing the triangle?

Solution:

\Δ\ABC

is a right angled triangle inside the circle with center 'O'.

Here,

\AB=21 {\cm}, \BC=20 {\cm}

∴

\AC^{2}=(\AB)^{2}+(\BC)^{2}

[by Pythagoras theorem]
⇒

\AC^{2}=(21)^{2}+(20)^{2}

⇒

\AC^{2}=441+400

⇒

\AC^{2}=841

⇒

\AC=\√{841}

\AC=29

Now, circumradius (OC)

={\AC}/{2}={29}/{2}=14.5 {\cm}
