The sum of three numbers is 79 . If the ratio of the first number to the second number is

and that of the second number to the third number is

Solution:

Given, ratio of first number to second number

=4: 7=16: 28

and ratio of second number to third number

=4: 5=28: 35

∴ Ratio of first number to second number to third number

=16: 28: 35

Now, sum of all three numbers

=79

∴ Second number

={28}/{16+28+35} \×79

={28}/{79} \×79=28
