, respectively. What was his average speed during the entire journey ?

Solution:

We know that,
Time

={{ \Distance }}/{{ \Speed }}

Now,

\T_{1}={18}/{6}=3 {\h}

\T_{2}={20}/{5}=4 {\h}

\T_{3}={27}/{9}=3 {\h}

Average speed

={{ \Total \distance }}/{{ \Total \time }}

={18+20+27}/{3+4+3}

={65}/{10}=6.5 {\km} \/ {\h}
