Lakshadweep was the first Union Territory in India to be declared 100\% organic by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2020. It is second after Sikkim to achieve the status of $100\%$ organic region. Farming in Lakshadweep is carried out without the use of synthetic fertilisers and pesticides, providing access to safer food choices and making agriculture a more environmentally-friendly activity.
