Solution:

(1) Required average

= {8 × 3+20 × 2+26 × m+29 × 1}/{3+2+m+1}

⇒ 17= {24+40+26 m+29}/{6+m}

⇒ 17(6+m)=93+26 m

⇒ 102+17 m=93+26 m

⇒ 26 m-17 m=102-93

⇒ 9 m=9⇒ m=1
