If A and B together do a job in 7.5 days and if A could do the job in 10 days if he worked alone. How many days would B take to do the job if he worked alone?

Solution:

Let time taken by B to complete work = x days
According to the question,

1/10+1/x=1/7.5

⇒

1/x=1/7.5-1/10={10-7.5}/75

⇒

1/x=2.5/75

∴

x =30
