What is the slope of the perpendicular to the line passing through the points (-5,1) and (-2,0) ?

Solution:

Let

(x_1; y _1) = (-5,1)

and

( x_ 2, y_2) = (- 2, 0)

∴ Slope of line

(m _1) = {y_2-y_1}/{x_2-x_1}

={0-1}/{-2+5}=-1/3

∵

m_1 m_2 = -1

Hence, the slope perpendicular line.
∴

m_2=-1(-1/3)=3
